Training & Technical Assistance

The Prevention Team offers customized technical assistance services to DELTA Impact Project sub-recipients and offers customized training to ODVN members, allied professionals, and other allied organizations. We offer topics related to prevention planning, implementation, and evaluation as well as working with youth and teens, engaging men in violence prevention, and using a public health approach to prevention.

Our customized technical assistance services are strategically designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and motivation essential to practicing thoughtful prevention. The Prevention Team offers coaching, consultation, meeting facilitation, and resource provision to DELTA Impact sub-recipients as well as to ODVN members, allied professionals, and allied organizations. ODVN’s Prevention Team works to build both capacity and competence in several key areas so that prevention practitioners are appropriately outfitted for this challenging work.

Networking & Partnerships

One of the most critical supports for violence prevention is linking people to people. Effective networking allows for the sharing of successes, challenges, lessons learned, strategies, and resources. The ODVN Prevention Team works to cultivate relationships and foster the cross-fertilization of prevention knowledge among its local, state, and national partners. An easy way to participate in this community of prevention-minded allies is to join the ODVN sponsored OhioPreventsIPVSVFV@groups.io, ODVN’s prevention email group. To join this e-group please email your contact information to rebeccac@odvn.org.

The effectiveness of violence prevention depends on partnerships. No one organization in a community or state can possibly prevent violence from working on its own. ODVN’s prevention work depends upon partnerships with statewide and regional organizations, local domestic violence programs, state agencies, colleges and universities, and other organizations willing to partner. Partners bring diverse voices to the prevention table and help inform our work. Partners benefit by gaining access to leading-edge information and technology. If you or your organization is interested in partnering with ODVN’s Prevention Team please reach out and contact Rebecca Cline, Prevention Programs Director at rebeccac@odvn.org or Glenn Harris at glennh@odvn.org.

Ohio Men’s Action Network

Men have been waiting to have authentic conversations about what it really means to be a man with other men. Thus we need to create, embrace, and foster these communications, campaigns, and support groups to ensure these conversations happen all across Ohio.

But how do you do it? So many groups of inspired men fizzle out due to lack of support and/or knowledge of the steps to take to make a real impact. That is why we exist – to provide resources in the form of content and connection. Strive to be an ally of Ohio Men’s Action Network to become part of something much bigger than yourself.
