Advocate Be Well: Setting in Motion Your Self-Care

Schedule these 3 hours for you! Invite your peers and attend as a staff together! Decide that 2022 will be a year of comfort, care, and positivity amidst your work challenges!

As advocates, we work in situations that place us on high-alert aware of others’ emotional and physical safety. We respond in moments to a crisis, danger, other’s distress. We answer chats and hotlines calls, we advocate for change within our agency and in the community. We support with empathy, offering comfort to youth and adults survivors. We work within systems that are causing upset to survivors. We work with fewer resources and yet commit to coming back to serving people who are victimized by domestic violence every day!

At ODVN, we believe you deserve time to discover, pause and reflect. This workshop will provide you with ideas about your resilience so that you “show up for your whole life.” We will explore actions that flood the body with “calming hormones,” which can lessen the impact of vicarious trauma and stress—plan to bring paper, markers, a blanket, chair, or mat. We will not only talk about approaches, but we will also break out and experience them as well.
