Domestic Violence Advocacy Fundamentals

This free training offers basic fundamentals and introductory skills for advocates serving domestic violence survivors and their children. You’ll learn about the history of the domestic violence movement and ways to become more culturally humble and inclusive. The webinar series teaches survivor-defined advocacy and strategies for risk management, crisis intervention, and safety planning. You’ll also get an overview of the complex civil and criminal justice systems and learn about Ohio’s Crime Victim Compensation program. Come with a desire to explore difficult topics, share with others, and leave with new knowledge to work effectively with survivors and children experiencing domestic violence.

The training consists of 3 days of live webinars and online training courses. About 9 hours of online learning is required prior to the live webinar series. After you’ve registered for DVAF, you’ll receive a link to register for the online learning portion. The online learning needs to be completed by June 17.
