This two-day training will focus on working within the civil and criminal justice systems on behalf of victims of domestic violence. Advocates will learn domestic violence laws and court procedures that will enable them to effectively advocate on both the individual and systemic level. Topics addressed include, working within the civil and criminal justice systems, revictimization within the justice systems, relevant state and federal statutes, and discuss critical issues such as unauthorized practice of law and confidentiality.

This will be an interactive training provided by ODVN staff and guest speakers utilizing lecture, small group discussion and activities. The participants will also receive the Justice Systems Advocacy training manual.
