Domestic Violence Advocacy Fundamentals Training
This three-day training is designed to increase core knowledge and skills
for advocates who have been working in the domestic violence movement
for two years or less. A variety of topics are addressed including the
herstory of the domestic violence movement, domestic violence as a social
problem, dynamics of domestic violence and victimization, crisis intervention
and hotline calls, safety planning, cultural competency as well as the
effects of domestic violence on children.
This interactive training is provided by ODVN staff utilizing lecture,
small group activities, role-plays, audiovisuals, and exciting discussion.
This training is excellent for the newer advocate to gain a thorough understanding
of domestic violence activism. Participants will also receive the DV Advocacy
Fundamentals training manual.
