The Ohio Domestic Violence Health Care Coalition (ODVHCC), formerly the National Standards Campaign, is an initiative of ODVN. The ODVHCC was developed to identify the efficacy of the current medical response to victims of domestic violence in the state of Ohio and identify areas that need improvement. The ODVHCC is made up of individuals from various fields such as physicians, nurses, social workers, domestic violence and public health advocates who have a deep concern about the lack of education health care providers receive related to working with victims of domestic violence.
In addition to the work of the ODVHCC, ODVN currently provides a 3-hour training for health care providers titled “A Health Care Provider’s Guide to Domestic Violence” as part of the ODVN Training Institute. The training features a discussion about the dynamics of domestic violence, effective assessment of patients, documentation, safety planning and identifying local resources. For more information on this training Click Here. The ODVHCC is gearing up for new projects focused on making connections with allied professionals. For information on requesting speakers from the ODVHCC or resources for health care providers please contact ODVN at 800-934-9840 or check out the links below. Health Care Resources:
