Pathways in Prevention: A Roadmap for Change
Ohio's Plan for Sexual and Intimate Partner Violence Prevention

In 2006, the Ohio Domestic Violence Network (ODVN) in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) co-convened a coalition of representatives of state level agencies, professional associations, local level prevention programs, allied professionals and key stakeholders. With support from the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC), the Ohio Sexual and Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Consortium endeavored to create a strategic plan for the prevention of sexual (SV) and intimate partner violence (IPV) in Ohio. In 2007, five strategic directions were identified. They are:

1. Effective Youth SV and IPV Prevention Recommended Practices
2. Integrated Intra-State Collaboration
3. Leveraging Resources for Maximizing Sustainability
4. Integrated Strategic Evaluation and Data Collection
5. Empowered Local Communities

These strategic directions were arrived at by consensus with current needs and resources available in mind. It is anticipated that implementation of this Plan will begin in mid-2009 as resources, both financial and human, of both convening organizations and our partners allow.
