The Purple Lights Campaign

During October of 2008 the Domestic Violence Center (DVC) in Cleveland organized, Purple Light Nights; a community campaign meant to raise awareness of the critical issue of domestic violence. During October of 2009 The DVC would like to launch their campaign state-wide. They are encouraging Ohio residents to shine a purple light during Domestic Violence Awareness Month- October 1 – 31, 2009. This campaign is designed to shine a light on a problem that is often associated with silence and shame. Three important goals of the campaign are: to create dialogue; to provide information about domestic violence and the resources available; and to engage Ohio communities to ensure the safety of women, men, teens and children.
