Overview:  This is written support from a confernce workshop that reviewed findingd from research to look at the role of chemical dependency as a barrier to effective elder abuse interventions.  The impact of chemical dependency on addicts and their family members and how elder abuse victims fall in this cycle are reviewed to find implications and future directions for policy makers and Adult Protective Service agencies.
