Cultural Diversity

Written by Amy Smith. Posted in Training - Descriptions and Information

This one day training is designed to engage participants in identifying the role that culture plays in our own lives and in the lives of survivors. This highly interactive training involves several exercises to assist participants in defining culture, remembering when they began to learn about the differences between different groups of people, and discussing the history of oppression and how oppression continues to play itself out in society today. As participants become more self-aware of their own beliefs and values, we then discuss how to take this information to improve our advocacy with survivors of domestic violence from all cultures and backgrounds.
